the following is an interview that took place on the 15th of April, at the Legion in Ottawa.
first off can you introduce yourselves and say what you do in the band?jersey: hey im jersey and i play bass.
elke: im elke and i sing.
bones: im bones and i play drums.
crosby: crosby, play guitar.
what was the major motivating factor forming this band? and how did you all
come together?
jersey: um, crosby sent me an email saying he was moving back to ottawa from vancouver, and
he said do you wanna start this and i said ya i would. i dunno how bones came into the
picture.
bones: crosby sent me an email.
crosby: me and bones have been in cahoots for awhile.
elke: bones has been talking about this band forever. it was the reason he didnt start any other
projects.
jersey: elke joined the band not to long ago cuz we wanted a vocalist, and none of us were willing
to damage our voices. so we were like, we'll let elke do it.
were any of you in bands prior to POLICE FUNERAL?
jersey: well i was in a band with you and crosby named BELLIGERENT. and i was in a crust band called
PRISONS. and WANTON MANNER, my very first punk band.
bones: i was in MT. TRASHMORE most recently and i was in SUICIDE PILOTS before that.
crosby: ive been in too many bands, THE INSUBORDINATION, SYSTEM SHIT, BELLIGERENT,
BOOKER, CHAOS PANIC DISORDER, i dunno, a few bands.
elke: this is my first band basically.
what are some of your main influences as a band? and personally what are your influences?
jersey: i like punk.
crosby: punkrock, i like punkrock.and drinking. and then you mix in a bit of politics.
jersey: my influence was life, i felt very inspired by life.
crosby: i fell there's this constant need in punkrock to box yourself in or categorize yourself in....
jersey: ... in the box of a van.
bones: crosby was gonna say that we dont like to get boxed in.
with a name like POLICE FUNERAL, im guessing the band is very political. what are some of the
topics that are sung about?
elke: i think we sing about really relevant things, like how police are an occupying army in our lives,
and how prison are these places of isolation. um, i dunno, we sing about immigration, like new
immigrants to canada.
crosby: i mean we dont have the typical drunk riot song. hey esson what do you think of police funeral?
esson: oh, fucken' awesome.
where do you see POLICE FUNERAL in the future?
jersey: i have no future, i quit the band. im actually not joking.
elke: i guess i'll be playing bass and singing.
ok, if you guys could tour with any band, who would it be and why?jersey: NIGHTMARE//REALITY
crosby: i like NIGHTMARE//REALITY actually.
jersey: NUCLEAR DEATH TERROR, GISM.
when making a pizza what kind of crust do you like?
crosby: stuffed.
elke: crispy, thin, authentic.
jersey: d beat.
any closing remarks?
crosby: im always impressed with these underground scenes, especially in ottawa.
jersey: thank you jason

swords by rob miller
http://www.castlekeep.co.uk/
rob "the baron" miller of amebix fame has been making these amazing swords for some time now. what started with a book about swordmaking has blossomed to the intense pieces of art he makes now.
